For defending the Catholic truth they were driven into exile in the terrible desert many of them were cruelly taken by the Moors, goaded to run at the point of the spear, and beaten with stones others had their feet tied together, and were dragged like corpses through hard and sharp places, until all their limbs were mangled and then were tortured to death in diverse ways. Pre-eminent among them were the Bishops Felix and Cyprian.

In winter time, that is from the first of November until Easter as found by computation, let rising be at the eighth hour of the night, as seems reasonable, that there may be a moderately increased length of rest after midnight and that all may rise fully rested; and let what time remains after night office be devoted to thoughtful study by brethren who at all need it for the psalter or lections. Lad os bede.
O God the giver of pardon, and the lover of human salvation, we beseech thy clemency: that thou grant the brethren of our congregation, kinsfolk, and benefactors, which are departed out of this world, blessed Mary ever Virgin making intercession with all the saints, to come to the fellowship of eternal blessedness.
Ved vor Herre Jesus Kristus, din Søn, som lever og råder med dig i Helligåndens enhed, Gud, fra evighed til evighed.
